Thanks to everyone who commented and replied via Twitter - I feel like Hannibal Smith now as the plan comes together!
This is what I think makes the most sense at the moment based on everybodies advice;
- We’ll charge £5 per person (aiming at around 80 people) and seek some sponsorship as well
- Trinity as a venue - assuming its available. Several emails to the Cube have gone unanswered and the more I think about Trinity the more sense it makes
- The event taking place on a Sunday afternoon between 1 and 6ish
- No live streaming but video the talks using Flip cameras and anything else available - will hopefully let the mighty Hector take the lead here
- We’ll have some kind of Twitter projection and encourage its use as a backchannel
- No bottled water! We’ll have jugs of water plus some ‘interesting’ squash available
- Cake! (I’ll work out the insurance details with the venue)
- There is a hot water urn so I think tea bags etc should available
A remaining big decision is the date of this grand happening - for personal reasons these are the 3 potential dates I’ve been thinking of - 26th July, 9th August or 23rd August - what do people think? They are far from set in stone and basically just represent the three easiest dates for me during a period that is far enough away to be achievable but doesn’t clash with Bathcamp which is likely to be in September. Assuming the dates don’t horrify anyone I’ll contact Trinity later this week and check availability - if need be I’ll front a deposit to confirm the venue asap and then the really difficult task of rounding up speakers would begin..

This all sounds ace! I can do the 23rd of July and the 9th August, but cannie make the 23rd August… Those are my thoughts..!

July is definitely better for me, but annoyingly couldn’t promise on any of those dates at the mo as Sundays are hard for me I’m afraid, sorry!

Exciting that it’s all coming together - not presuming that I’ll be involved (we haven’t even met : ) but if I can help in any way/attend then 26th July and 23 Aug are good for me.

Sounds like a plan. I couldn’t do 23 August, but could do the other two dates.

All the those sound fine, maybe a slight preference for the earlier ones.
Also just remembered I have a Makro card for work, if you need to get any stuff from there
