“never give a party if you will be the most interesting person there.”

    West of Interesting (or Winteresting) is inspired by the Interesting Conferences in London for the last couple of years that were the brainchild of Russell Davies that have since inspired events in New York, Sydney and Amsterdam and now hopefully Bristol!

    I was considering organising a barcamp in the Bristol area but as I looked into it I quickly became aware that I wanted to do something that was even more eclectic and less techy while retaining some of the unconference elements that I’m so fond of. So anyway this is the pitch; an Interesting style event in the Stokes Croft area of Bristol sometime this summer. This does all rather assume that someone other than me might be up for this! There is information about the Interesting concept below for anyone who wants to learn more…

    The following is taken from the Interesting New York website and I know I could never come up with anything better;

    * Interesting is a goal, not a claim
    * It is an opportunity for people to share their passions and what they care about
    * People talk because they’re fascinated by something, not because they’re good a public speaking
    * Content is open source and sharable
    * No agendas. No marketing.
    * Sponsors give tangible things that make the day better
    * Collaborative organizing
    * Affordable for the average Joe/Jane
    * Not for profit. Any extra money goes to charity
